Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain / London, 3 September 2026. Stats Perform, the sports data and AI company behind Opta, and 2Coders Studio, a front-end specialist in entertainment technology, have partnered to change what a sports app can do on the day it goes live.
Every club app is judged against the best one its fans opened last season, and that app usually belongs to a broadcaster. For most organisations the comparison has been unwinnable. Matching it meant a year of engineering, a data contract, and someone to keep the content flowing.
Arena is the app itself: native iOS, Android and Web clients, a CMS and a design system, with TV platforms to follow. It already handles what every sports app has to handle and nobody wants to build twice, from schedule logic and live match data to content feeds, video, push and authentication. Ten years of building for tier-one sport and streaming went into it.
White-label apps get an organisation live quickly and then stop. Layouts are fixed, and every club on the platform ends up looking related. Arena is an engineering framework instead: the UX and the branding belong entirely to the organisation, and the architecture is sport-agnostic, so a football federation and a basketball league run on the same core. The first release lands in weeks, where a ground-up build takes months.
Two Stats Perform products are wired in from the start, with more of the Opta suite to follow. Opta Data maps fixtures, live scores, lineups, match statistics, standings and player profiles natively into the product. Opta Pulse does the same for video, cutting short-form highlights automatically into Arena’s vertical modules. Most fan apps launch with empty shelves. An Arena app has real match data and shareable clips inside it before the brand guidelines are signed off.
“Fans notice a lineup that updates late, or a stat that contradicts what they just watched,”
said Niall Hendry, VP of AI Applications and Solutions, Stats Perform. “With Opta Data and Opta Pulse inside Arena, a club with no production team can put the same feed and the same highlights in front of its fans as a broadcaster.”
“The quality a fan experiences shouldn’t depend on the size of the organisation behind the app,”
said Dailos Medina, Co-founder, 2Coders Studio. “For years it has, because building a credible sports app from scratch is expensive and easy to get wrong. Arena hands over the layer that is identical for everyone: the native apps, the CMS, the year of engineering. With Opta’s data and highlights already running, our clients spend their time on matchday, editorial and commerce, which is where fans notice the difference.”
Arena powered by Opta is on show at IBC 2026, Hall 5, Stands 5.F51 and 5.C16 (Content Everywhere), 11–14 September. Both teams are running joint demos through the show.
